The Haunt is here

All around the world theme parks have unleashed this years haloween celebration. Including activities for all ages. The little ones can enjoy activities during the day and the more brave and older crowd can gather enough courage to walk through the parks many terrifying haunted houses. Many great reviews have been posted of parks like Knotts, Universal Studios, and Busch Gardens. So if you live near a park with a Haunt celebration I recommend a trip or at least a night visit.

Prowler Review

     The Prowler is a 80 foot tall wooden GCI roller coaster. In 2009 it was rated the best new ride of the year beating out rides like Diamondback and Saw. This year it was ranked the number ten wooden roller coaster in the world.
      You climb into the two across comfortable and cushy millennium flyer trains. Pull down the lap bar and wait for the all clear not sure of what to expect because most of the ride is hidden in the woods. As you climb the the hill you get a glimpse of whats to come and the beautiful woods and park. As you crest the hill you see the track twist below you. The track roars as you hurtle down the first drop. But before you hit the ground you pull up into  the twisted hill you fly through the structure and are off into the woods in a layout meant to reflect the Beast. In a series of twists, turns and bunny hills you fly near the ground as the trains try and buck you off. Finally you do a last twist by the lift hill and hit the brakes.

     Overall it is an amazing roller coaster and deserves its rank. My final rating is a solid 9.5. And would definitely recommend a stop at Worlds of Fun.

Leviathan to Tower Over Canada's Wonderland

                       Earlier this week Canada's Wonderland announced there 2012 coaster project.

Leviathan is to be a 306 ft B&M giga coaster. It will be interesting to see how B&M does there spin on the concept.

Roller Coaster of the Week #1 Dare Devil Dive

      There are thousands of roller coasters all over the U.S. I'm here to talk about them every week.

                               Dare Devil Dive


      Dare Devil Dive is a Gerstlauer euro fighter dive coaster. They are known for their vertical lift and beyond vertical drop. It is 95" tall and reaches a top speed of 52 mph. It boasts a 95 degree drop, an immelmann, a diving loop, and a heartline roll. Dare Devil Dive is the first euro fighter to have lap restraints. I don't know if euro fighters head bang but, Dare Devil Dive seems to be the most smooth. This is definitely a roller coaster I would like to ride. Random Fact: Dare Devil Dive's name was inspired by a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Hades Review

     Hades is 136 foot tall wooden Gravity Group roller coaster. It towers over Mt.Olympus Water & Theme Park boasting a 65 degree first drop, a ninety degree banked turn, and the worlds longest underground tunnel. It also bears the title of being the first roller coaster designed by the legendary Gravity Group.
     Your journey begins with the unusually large drop out of  the station. You do a couple of twists and turns and begin your journey up the monstrous lift hill. Its at this point when you see Mt. Olympus way beneath you that you start to wonder what you got your self into. As you start to crest the hill all you see is parking lot, but then you notice a gaping hole beneath you. Finally you crest the hill and speed into the realm of Hades. You better brace your self because the train is like a possessed demon that wants nothing more than you off its back. Finally as you feel you've been in the black tunnel long enough Hades shoots out up on the other side of the parking lot for a pause at the top of the turn around. then Hades races back into the tunnel and past the 90 degree bank through the realm of Hades at a bit slower pace. Once again you surface at the park where you fly over two hills. With a couple more turns you hit the brake run which stops the demon train in its tracks.

      Overall Hades is amazing and is my favorite wooden roller coaster. Unfortunately the staff a Mt. Olympus  can be a little unfriendly and the roller coasters aren't taken care of. My final rating is 10 due to its underground masterpiece and amazing thrills.

Adventureland Review

Adventureland is a small park located in Altoona, Iowa. It has four roller coasters and many other rides and shows. Adventureland also has Adventure Bay waterpark which comes with general admission. It is a nice small park with short lines and decent rides. Some of the good rides include the Tornado, the Sidewinder, the Log Flume, and Space Shot. Although I like Adventureland and its my home park but I don't recommend going out of your way to visit. Overall I give it a 6/10.
Random Fact: Adventurland's opening was delayed when a tornado hit. That is how the roller coaster Tornado got its name.

The Dragon Review

First hill and loops of the Dragon

The Dragon is a steel looping coaster at the small park in Altoona, Iowa known as Adventureland. It is made by the company vekoma. The Dragon is relatively 90 ft tall with 2 consecutive loops and a figure eight. The ride cuases tons of headbanging and often will give you a headache I really don't like this roller coaster and don't really recommend it. Overall I give it a 1/5.

Random Fact: It is the only steel roller coaster in Iowa and the only looping roller coaster.

The Tornado Review

The Tornado is located in the small park in Altoona, Iowa known as Adventureland. The Tornado is a woodie over 90 feet tall. It is rellatively smooth for a wooden coaster. It has quite a bit of airtime and some headchoppers. Some airtime can be felt on the first hill depending on where you sit. This is one of my favorite wooden coasters. I recommend it to anyone visiting Iowa. Overall I give it a 4/5.
Random Fact: When The Tornado opened it was ranked in the top 10 ten wooden roller coasters in the world.

The Outlaw Review

First hill.

The Outlaw is located in the small park in Altoona, Iowa known as Adventureland. The Outlaw is a small woodie located at the back of the park. It is a relatively smooth ride with plenty of twists, turns and airtime. It also has more headchoppers than any coaster I've been on. Overall I think the Outlaw is a great wooden coaster and that anyone vistiting Iowa should definitely look in to. My final rating is 3.5/5. Random Fact: It is the second roller coaster built by Custom Coasters International who now are world renown wooden roller coaster designers.

Top Thrill Dragster Review

        I give Top Thrill Dragster a 4.5 /5 rating. It is very smooth and I like the restraints a lot. They are the same t-bar restraints used on Millenium Force. I also like the little bit of theme and how it wasn't overdone. It is one of the most intense rides I have ever been on. I also like how the brakes slowly slow you down so there's no jerking. The reason its not 5/5 is because its so short. It is definitely a roller coaster I recommend to anyone not faint of heart. Random Fact: It used to be the tallest fastest roller coaster in the world.

The Maverick Review

                                                                                                                                                                    I give the Maverick a 4.5/5  rating. It is a very smooth roller coaster. The inversions don't bang your head at all. It is by far the most smooth looping roller coaster I have been on by far. My only complaint is that the restraints always seem to be too loose or to tight. In my opinion the back seats are the best on this ride because of the past vertical drop.
